Brazilwood Bow

Product Description

Werner Brazilwood bows are a great, step-up option for students looking for their first (or, an upgraded) wooden bow at an affordable price. Great for advancing students (2nd – 5th year of study). Handmade in Germany.

Brazilwood is an industry term used to describe a variety of tropical hardwoods that are used for student level bows.  The quality and price of brazilwood bows can vary – much depends on the level of craftsmanship and the quality of the raw materials used.

Werner bows are handmade in Bubenreuth, Germany from top quality Massaranduba, a dense “brazilwood” that has been properly aged and seasoned.

Each stick is evaluated for its acoustic potential and graded “1, 2, or 3” to signify “good, better, and best”.  Werner Brazilwood bows are thus available in three different models, each with its own distinguishing features:

Model #1 Round stick - Half-lined ebony frog with a single eye – stamped “Werner”

Model #2 Round stick - Fully-lined ebony frog with a single eye – stamped “Werner”

Model #3 Octagonal stick – Fully-lined ebony frog with a Parisian eye – stamped “Werner”

Available in full size only for violin, viola, cello, and bass (French or German grip)

Wooden bows are highly susceptible to changes in humidity and can warp if not cared for properly
